Lucy Price, cello

Lucy is equally passionate about performance, education and community engagement. Particularly interested in historically informed performance practice, she can be spotted on the stage as a cellist performing with various period instrument ensembles such as Melbourne Baroque Orchestra, Ensemble Ancien and Evergreen Ensemble. In 2018 she was awarded a grant from the Australia Council of the Arts to study baroque cello in Italy and the UK.

Lucy has performed in a number of festivals as a chamber and orchestral musician in Australia and internationally as a baroque and modern cellist, including the Melbourne International Arts Festival, Peninsula Early Music Festival, Castlemaine State Festival (Australia), Urbino Early Music Festival (Italy), America Cantata Festival (Colombia), British Isles Music Festival and Lake District Music Festival (England).

As an educator, Lucy is a Lead Teaching Artist at the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra’s flagship education program, ‘The Pizzicato Effect’, and her group ‘Morna and the Minims’ were featured artists of Creative Victoria in 2018, touring around regional Victoria to educate school children about classical music.

When Lucy is not on the stage she enjoys drawing, being in nature or on her yoga mat.
